Decans
Astrologers split every sign into three decans of ten degrees, each carrying a sub-flavour from a planet of the same element. Your decan explains why two people of the same sign can feel so different.
How to use the Decans
Each zodiac sign divides into three 10° decans, and each decan carries a sub-flavour from another sign of the same element. Decans explain why two people of the same sign can feel so different.
Getting started
- Enter birth date, time and place; we read the decan of your Sun, Moon and Ascendant.
- Each shows its decan number, the sub-sign and its planetary sub-ruler.
Reading your result
A first decan is the purest form of the sign. Second and third decans blend in the qualities of the sub-ruling planet and its sign — a Leo third decan, for example, gains a Sagittarian, Jupiter-touched flavour.
Astrologer's tip Decans are the bridge between sun-sign astrology and the detail of a full chart.
